Connecting to my PC via remote desktop

So if i need to be downstairs but i want to work on my documents on my pc i connect wireless as if im using my PC downstairs with out moving the whole lot remember both my laptop (wireless) and my pc (ethernet connection) are connected via the same router. Meaning the same network.
